Ravenswood for Eat or Heat 2024

Saturday 2 March, Midday to midnight, Ravenswood Industrial Estate, E17 9HQ

Taking place on Saturday 2nd March at the Ravenswood Industrial Estate, Walthamstow, from 12pm onwards, the multi-venue DJ all-dayer will be raising money for East London food bank Eat or Heat – a service that, sadly, remains all too essential to many in the borough who are struggling to make ends meet. The event is, as ever, FREE to attend, but donations on the day (cash or card) are strongly encouraged.

We’ve got a great day of music across Wild Card Brewery, Pillars Brewery, The Real Al Co, Mother’s Ruin, and Blitz in Walthamstow. We’re hoping to build on the amazing £14,000 (!) raised last year, thanks to the generosity of punters, venues and sponsors.

Here is the initial line-up drop – DJ sets from:

808 State | Fabio | Jay Carder | Richard Fearless | Tia Cousins | Justin Robertson | DJ Counselling | Drumskull b2b Warlock | Jaye Ward | Steven Weston | Atom UK | Emily Dust | Richard Norris | MXMJoY | Nick Williams | UKAEA | Timothy J. Fairplay | L Daze | Lara Jones | NVWLS | Dubplate Pearl and Mister Swing Easy | In Fields | Dave Congreve | Ally Tropical | Stella Creasy | Axel Lewis | Cosmic Bob | DubRoot | Eastern Front Soundsystem | Kat Richmond | Steel Worker | Cheeky Soundsystem | General Echo Soundsystem | Bustawidemove | Vital Sound | Bit Cloudy | Lyndhurst | Monobrow | Scissorkicks | Andy Stripe | Ashka BSide | Trafford | Bring The Beat Mack | Adrian Spurdon | Adrian Jay | Disco 2000 | We Could Be Heroes | Patrick Richmond | Show & Tell Ldn | Dominic Mandrell

And a special set from Ragga Twins.

Expect a few more names to creep in before the day

We will be adding an online donations page nearer the time, and providing set times etc. For now, please just share, invite friends etc.!

And thanks to our supporters for helping to make the event happen: Stow Brothers (who have supported every year’s event!), Service Store (WF Council), Perky Blenders, Dalston’s Soda, and Black Score.

Mother Tongue - Spoken Word and Music night, All Welcome

Mother Tongue - Spoken Word and Music night, All Welcome

Mother Tongue Spoken Word nights provide an open and welcoming space where anybody can get up and perform, whether they are amateurs or professionals.

From witty poems to funny songs (think Victoria Wood or Tim Minchin), from political spoken word to observational comedy, from the smartest word play to the funniest quips - we love it all and somehow there's such joy in the room. It takes us on a journey, from happy to reflective, from awe-inspiringly talented to side-splittingly funny. If you enjoy seeing talent, this will blow your socks off. 16-20 artists, some fairly new, some incredibly experienced with huge followings, but all utterly superb on the stage.

Thanks to the incredible @BlackScoreBars who helps us organise this bonanza, we get brilliant people as headliners and we'll announce them as soon as we can. But the level of talent, and the joyous atmosphere is unlike any other spoken work night.

The beauty of being on the Ravenswood Estate is that Mother Tongue can roam around the venues. This time we're at Pillars Brewery and our artists will take the stage in front of towering silver brewing tanks.

Open mic sign up from 7pm, show starts at 7.30 pm. We don't guarantee seating, so come early if you don't want to stand.

If you've not been before, but it interests you, come. You won't be able to stop talking about how good it was!

Follow us on @bsmothertongue. All welcome. Book here.

MotherFudger - Gin & Fudge Tasting 7.30-9.00pm session

  • Unit 18, Ravenswood Industrial Estate Shernall Street, Walthamstow E17 9HQ, United Kingdom (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Unique gin and fudge tasting where you make cocktails combinations in your mouth. It's all vegan, informal and interactive.

Gin, fudge and fruit liqueur tasting. Has it been done before? We don't think so. Come join us for this unique experience at Mother’s Ruin, and kick off your weekend with a MotherFudgers tasting.

Hosted by Patch Hyde from the Fudge Patch who has been making fudge since he was 16. And not just any fudge, the proper stuff, made on a marble table and boiled in massive pots. It is woven into long logs and sliced while still warm on the table. This results in the smoothest, creamiest fudge you can imagine, and it’s vegan. He has made fudge live on Sunday Brunch and staged an award-winning comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival about life in a fudge shop.

Patch will be joined by Siobhan Robinson from Mother’s Ruin. She makes award-winning fruit liqueurs and small batch gin, lovingly hand crafted in Walthamstow and is proud to be part of London's long and disreputable history of gin drinking. The fruit liqueurs are fabulous on their own and in cocktails, and many of the ingredients are home-grown, or wild foraged from in and around East London.

We’ve created this informal, fun session to play around with flavours…and have an excuse to eat and drink yummy stuff.

• First we’ll give you some lemon fudge and ask you to put it in your mouth with Mother’s Ruin Gin to make a cocktail in your mouth

• Then there’ll be a selection of fudge and tasters of gin and fruit liqueurs in front of you. Expect flavours like our Old Tom Gin, Damson Gin, Raspberry Gin, Rhubarb Vodka, and the 'spicy but oh so delicious' Gimlet, and crisp apple cider from our neighbours The Real Al

• Whilst you’re tasting these we’ll tell you a bit about ourselves and how we make stuff. We’ll give you lots of time to talk on your table about the combinations you’re creating

• The bar will be open and you’re welcome to buy cocktails to experiment with too – which fudge is going to pair well with Mother’s Marmalade Negroni for example

• At the end of the session, we’ll ask each table to nominate their favourite combo. Then we’ll put on some music on and chat away merrily with everyone

The MotherFudger tasting will take place in the fabulous Mother’s Ruin Gin Palace near Walthamstow Village. This is at 18 Ravenswood Industrial Estate, E17 9HQ and is approximately 10 minutes walk from both Walthamstow Central and Wood Street stations (Victoria Line / Overland). Our neighbours are Gods Own Junk Yard so pop in for a good look around before you leave.

The tasting and talk will last approximately 1.5 hours. The £10 ticket includes fudge and about a drinks worth of tasters. Please drink responsibly.
